New in the shop, 'Etchings' by MODA Fabrics. We have a limited selection of Charm packs and Etchings quilt kits.

This group is understated and elegant in shades of grey, red and turquoise and can be perfect as a gift or for yourself.

The chickens are on the loose, yes, they are everywhere and even starting to lay eggs. They are called 'Pollo Loco' (crazy chicken) and Maria Horwath has created more than a few. This particular clutch was hatched in the new 'Terrain' collection from MODA. This fabric group also has a collection of 3 vinyl coated cottons for an adorable jacket or tote.

Also new, 'Serenity' by Red Rooster. This incredible Asian collection has delicate geisha's surrounded by gorgeous peonies. This beautiful pattern is free when you purchase 'Serenity' fabrics or the available kit.

Utah market trip

Pat at Thanksgiving Point, Utah. Yes, those are real flowers, gorgeous and blooming.

Pat and I just spent a week at Quilt Market in Salt Lake City and boy are our heads ready to burst! So many new fabrics, so many new tools, so little time........I need a good working clone to sew full time. Salt Lake City was so very beautiful and the people were wonderful and gracious...........and we are so very tired BUT very EXCITED!!!!! We will be debuting lots of new gadgets and new techniques at the Quilting on the Kenai so stay tuned more.

Valdez trip

WOW, and I'll say it again, WOW! What a wonderful adventure. Pat packed up a mini shop and joined Brenda for a trip to the Valdez Quilt Festival. Brenda taught 4 1-day classes while Pat and her sister Judy made new friends and sold lots of fabric and kits.

Brenda was gifted with a 6 hour cruise and set out to see Columbia Glacier, incredible!

Our Hostesses, and there were several, made us feel very welcome and have already invited us back in 2012. I'm pretty sure we said YES!!

Information Overload! Well, in a good way. Trish has a phenomenal amount of really good information to share and I did not want to miss any of it. Long days and short nights were worth every bit of my tired mind and body.

Our first paint class, we were inspired in the art of making our own background fabric. Along with numerous other Trish insights.

Pat discovered she had more of an artist inside than she knew.

Quilting on the Kenai and the Art to Wear fashion show were a great success and Trish Stuarts' classes were the perfect finishing touch.

Wow, Trish is an incredible teacher and we have been having the most fun ever! I discovered that I am an artist and I didn't even know it. So did everyone else! Trish has an incredible ability to help you see the picture within the paint and then to develop that picture into a masterpiece. Today is thread painting and then color theory, can't wait to work on my own little masterpiece. Pictures coming soon.

Thank you to everyone who made this the best show yet. It was wonderful.The quilts were exquisite, the vendors did a great job, the demos were fabulous, and the Art to Wear Fashion Show........................I am running out of words to describe.......how about, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!!!!! We had great entries, great models and great fun last night. Thank you to Trinity Christian Center for allowing us your facilities. Today I start Trish Stuart's 1st class, Creating your Background. I will try to post an update later along with a few pictures.

Introducing ‘Erica’s Heart’, a quilt that tells an incredible story about an incredible woman. Erica Summers discovered she had breast cancer 3 1/2 years ago. After major surgery, chemo and radiation, she was declared cancer free. This May, she was told she was Stage 4. Erica is fighting bravely for herself, her husband Scott and her son and daughter. She is living life to its fullest as she has her treatments, her joy and bubbly personality never ceasing to shine. She is strong, funny, loved by a multitude of people and she is a Quilter!

This quilt was actually designed several years ago, but the designer never felt the need to finish the pattern. In May 2010, when it was revealed that Erica’s cancer had returned, God whispered 'now' and we have ‘Erica's Heart’.

The original 82”x94” quilt was made by Mary Nell Larson, Mary Talley and Sammie Roderick in honor of their close friend and sewing partner. All proceeds from the sale of these tickets will go to the Bridges/Erica Summers Fund to help defer medical expenses. The pattern was designed by Brenda Clyde and was custom quilted by Sharon Hughes Machine Quilting. The pattern is available for purchase at Robin Place Fabrics for $10, with $2 of the cost being donated to the Bridges/Erica Summers Fund.

The quilt will be displayed at First American Title and the winning ticket will be drawn at 12:00 Noon on August 14^th at the Bridges office. Tickets may be purchased at SouthCentral Title Agency, First American Title Agency, Robin Place Fabrics and from numerous people in the Kenai, Soldotna and Homer area.

Tickets are $5.00 each or 5 tickets for $20.00.

9 Days and counting.....................Quilting on the Kenai is going to be fabulous. The girls were in yesterday and processed all the quilts and garments. WOW, what a wonderful job. I did sneek a few peeks at some of the pieces. !!!!!!!!!!!, okay, that is me really excited!!!

Well, Greta is being a little shy but here is her background just waiting..........................Actually I have been very busy creating multiple things, (go to my blog to see what I've been up to, Stitches From Heaven ) and of course, IT'S LESS THAN 2 WEEKS to QUILTING ON THE KENAI!!!!!!!! Things are getting busy at the shop and oh the quilts and garments we have seen. June 24th, 25th and 26th, don't forget to go on the Quilt Walk starting this coming Friday the 19th.
We just received our Tsukineko workstations in for Trish's first class.They look like so much fun and I can't wait to get into her class to play with them. Don't wait to long to sign up as her classes are already filling up. Trish has an incredible Trunk Show to share Thursday evening the 24th at 7pm at Cook Inlet Academy.There is no charge for this event so no excuses, come be inspired.

Wow what a day. Beautiful. I worked on Morley J. Moose III today. This is one of those fun new projects that Pat brought back from market. I don't think I've ever seen a moose that looked like this, but he is obviously a very fun guy.(Check in with me tomorrow for pics) Our Quilting on the Kenai demos are almost lined out. 2010 Shop Hop is here!!! It has been a pleasure to work with Chelline on creating this years shop hop. There are 13 participating shops, each with their own specific block. Ours is the puffin, and down around the corner from us is Chelline at Dragonfly Gallery and her block is the dragonfly.........funny how that worked out. Anyway, it is getting wonderful compliments from around the state and we are very excited.

We had several more people in to sign up for Trish Stuart's classes. We just ordered these incredible Workstation pen and ink sets for her 1st class. They will be on special for Quilting on the Kenai so if you are interested let us know.

First a website, then Facebook, now a Blog, yes I am really trying to overwhelm Pat. This is going to be an easy way to keep our friends up on shop info and life. Now understand, this will be the ramblings of a somewhat distracted mind. Well, depending on when I post, so feel free to jump in and help me out from time to time. We will enjoy the input!
Is it summer or what???? We have had some of the biggest raindrops and now some of the brightest sunshine. Yes, summer in Soldotna. Of course that means, Quilting on the Kenai. This is our 16th year and we are still excited. Pat came home from market with some really fun gadgets and we can't wait to share. Trish Stuart is helping us to prepare for her classes and they are already starting to fill. Don't wait to long. I, personally am going to take all 5 classes. This will be my first class with Trish and I am looking forward to being stretched. As the next few weeks of preparation continue, I will try to get some pics posted, just a few hints and clues for the upcoming show.
